AirVenture 2011 - Airshow

The 1911 Curtiss Pusher flew during the airshow.  I give the pilots a lot of credit for letting the crowd see the plane fly in poor conditions in a plane with marginal flying characteristics.

Gary Ward's MX=2.   I think the MX-2 is the hottest aerobatic airplane in the world today and I think Gary Ward puts on the best MX-2 show out there.

Sean Tucker's Oracle Super Sport.

I hadn't seen Sean do his act in a few years.  He really put on a show this year, with a lot of new stuff I'd never seen before.  Just unbelievable.  He's the best.

They airshow coordinator made a mistake putting Sean Tucker near the start of the show.    They should save the best for last.  Not fair to the other performers to have to try and top this.

Except for Kent Pietsch, who's show rivals anyones.  Wednesday afternoon he landed on a RV "aircraft carrier" and Thursday he did a Bob Hoover-like deadstick routine.  What a pilot!

And of course the AeroShell Team is always great.

I hadn't seen these guys before:  a formation team flying L-39 jets.  I don't think they were able to do their normal routine -- as you can see, the weather isn't the best.
